24 Hour Hotline

You are not alone.

If you or someone you know needs help, call our Hotline at 617-338-2355
If you are in immediate danger, please call 911.

24-Hour Hotline

If you or someone you know needs help, call our Hotline at 617-338-2355.  The Hotline is available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Services are free, confidential, and available to documented and undocumented persons.

If a hotline staff member does not speak your language, please state your preferred language and an interpreter will be provided so we can communicate with you, and can provide the appropriate services or referrals.

You can also email info@atask.org for non-urgent questions.

What you can expect:

Calling our 24-hour hotline is the first step toward helping yourself or someone you know escape an abusive situation.  All calls are confidential.  Callers will receive crisis intervention, safety planning, emotional support, resources, information and referrals.

A hotline staff member  will ask a few questions to gain an understanding of your situation. For example, they may ask, “How can I help you?” or “What made you decide to call the hotline today?” They might also ask for your prefered language, first name, age, location, or immigration status so they can better assist you. You are not required to provide any information you are not comfortable sharing.

If you decide that you would like to receive services from ATASK, you will be referred to an Advocate.  If an advocate is not immediately available, we will ask for a safe time and phone number to call you back. Follow-up calls can be expected within two business days.

Advocates and volunteers speak 20+ Asian languages and dialects including Arabic, Bangla, Cantonese, Chiu Chau/Teochew, Filipino, Gujarati, Hindi, Indonesian, Khmer, Korean, Lao, Mandarin, Manipuri, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Thai, Taishanese, Taiwanese, Toisanese, Urdu, and Vietnamese (as of October 2022). For other languages, we work with professional interpreters so we can communicate with you.

Community Based Services (Case Management and Advocacy)

ATASK Advocates connect survivors of domestic violence and abuse, dating violence and abuse, sexual assault, and human trafficking to critical resources. They provide case management, serve as interpreters and translators, and help clients navigate unfamiliar customs and systems.

Trained Advocates are available Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, and after hours by arrangement for emergencies. Services are available in-person and virtual.

What you can expect:

After you call the Hotline, you will speak to an Advocate who speaks your language. An Advocate will complete an intake to understand your needs and goals, and will inform you of your rights and ATASK’s programs and services.
