| Children and Youth Services
Children and Youth Services include child- and parent-oriented offerings to address the needs of the children of domestic violence survivors. Our Family Program Coordinator, who holds a master’s degree in risk and prevention/adjustment counseling, oversees group and individual activities for children and adults staying at the shelter. She conducts individual and group supportive sessions with children, provides ongoing assistance to parents, trains and oversees volunteers who provide childcare at the shelter, works with school officials, and refers clients to other resources. In addition, a nurse from Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program visits the shelter weekly. In the last fiscal year, we expanded services to include monthly educational family field trips for adults and children living at the shelter.
